GEHENNAS - back to Bosses

Gehennas is one of the most technical fights in MC. Group Setup.

Groups are shuffled around from our standard setup for Gehennas as follows:
-Two groups are designed around and designated to be "offtank groups" for the two adds.
-Three groups are setup to be "MT Healer groups".

Gehennas Encounter Abilities

Some of these may not be exactly correct, but they should be close:
•The adds cleave which also stuns whoever they hit. This isnt a big deal
•Gehennas's Curse: AE cureable curse from Gehennas. Fires off every 30 seconds. This curse reduces heals by 75%. Obviously, we don't want to heal anyone with the curse so it needs to be cured.
•Shadow Bolt: Gehennas's shadow bolt can do 2000+ Damage, and he does it often. It is a huge source of his dps. He uses the random secondary targetting system to determine who to shadow bolt so healers should be aware of how it works.
•Rain of Fire: Gehennas casts a targetted AE rain (looks like the warlock version). Anyone getting rained on should immediatly run and get out of the rain.

The Pull and Positioning

Gehennas positioning is complicated, so it's best shown with a picture:e.

That is the initial Setup. The "T"s to the south are the offtanks, and the H's are the hunters who peel the adds to them. "Raid" is where all the dps and their healers are located.

The most important thing to note with this positioning are how the healers are set up. The east-most "1" is actually grouped with the eastmost "2" and "3" (as indicated by the red circling). The number just indicates which "Rotation group" they are in.

For the pull, a paladin goes DA and runs gehennas to the warrior. The hunters run up and peel their specific adds to their specific offtanks as soon as gehennas is aggroed. The MT has to be careful not to engage gehennas / go near the paladin until the adds are peeled. If the adds stun the MT things can go haywire fast.

Strategy

First thing to note is why the healing is set up like it is. The reason we only have 3 healers healing at any one time is to minimize the number of people getting hit by the ae. This is also why we split up the "group 1" healers from eachother. It also allows the group 2 and 3 healers keep them up when they get hit by the rain and shadowbolts (the other group 1 healers can't do that because they have to heal the MT.)

The three healer groups use the Healer Group Rotation healing strategy. Each healer group has a mage in with them who's sole job is to keep the curse off of them. They will be taking a lot of damage thanks to the secondary targetting system. causing them to randomly eat a bunch of shadow bolts and ae rains.

The main tank group also has a druid in it who's sole job is to cure the curse off the MT as soon as it lands. Their only other job is to keep themselves alive. The warlock is in that group for the imp pet HP buff.

After the initial pull the raid will kill one add first. This allows time for the warrior / healers to get everything under control and steady before the dps starts charging in. It also free's up some extra healing to help with gehennas. Once the add is dead all the dps switches to gehennas.

The exception to this is melee. We only really want a small handful on melee on Gehennas at any one time. They have to pack in too close to each other to melee him, so we usually only like the MT + one other warrior + a couple of rogues fighting him. They of course dodge the rain when it's dropped on top of them. Any more melee then that stick around at the add camp and kill the last add.
